After Mortal Kombat 1 announced what its future would be, gamers were quick to criticize the game's decision over at the official subreddit for, r/MortalKombat. According to a recent post from a user, Paid Fatalities are "ABSURD," meaning that those interested in getting a new Fatality for their chosen character to perform would have to pay to get this finishing move.

The latest update from NetherRealm for Mortal Kombat 1 went live, centering on the Steam and Epic Games Store general updates, with the company also announcing a special "Halloween Finisher," a.k.a. a new Fatality, will be available via the Premium Store.

This new special finishing move will be kept behind a paywall, with this specific Fatality made available for all characters in the game to perform.

Gamers are Riled Up on Paid Fatalities

Apart from the OP, other fans have also shared their sentiments via the comments section of the post, with one Redditor saying that availing of this paid Fatality from NetherRealm would "set a bad precedent" for the game. The same Redditor, u/FistoPuncherelli, claimed that these tactics are "predatory microtransactions," with the game previously offering a paid Shang Tsung announcer voice for the character.

What Does Mortal Kombat 1 Offer?

Earlier this year, gamers were expecting a new Mortal Kombat game from WB Games and NetherRealm, with the massive fanbase initially awaiting Mortal Kombat 12, succeeding the last MK11. However, gamers were greeted with a new title announced by the companies, now Mortal Kombat 1, a revamp to the entire franchise, with familiar characters joining it.

The experience was reborn, and NetherRealm promised new offers and features available for gamers. Apart from this, MK1 went massive on its collaborations and features for the upcoming title, featuring its earliest DLC promising the arrival of Amazon Prime Video's Homelander from The Boys, Omni-Man from Invincible, and DC's Peacemaker from Suicide Squad.

While Mortal Kombat 1 saw a significant buggy experience for the Nintendo Switch, with gamers fast to react to it and make memes with the game, other platforms gave high praises to the latest from the franchise. Now, a plan by Mortal Kombat 1 is under fire from its fans and gamers, with one of the game's highlights, Fatalities, soon put behind a paywall for gamers to purchase should they want to.
