The famed company co-owned by Kendrick Lamar and Dave Free, pgLang, has announced a new minimalist phone called "light phone" which the company will soon drop later this week. It will be a limited drop from the company, and pgLang collaborated with Light to deliver this new device, and it is a phone that only has the essentials for a less distracting experience.

Dumb phones are what these devices are called, purposely missing out on the many capabilities of a smartphone, in exchange for a more "human" and connected experience with reality.

Pitchfork reported on a new product from pgLang and a tech company known as "Light," with this new tech called the "light phone" that centers on everything minimalist for a user. This version of the light phone was co-designed by pgLang, and is set to drop only 250 units of the cellphone once it is made available come November 2.

The company owned by Lamar and Free would sell the minimalist cellphone via its website, but remains unknown how much this device would cost in the market.

This minimalist phone from pgLang and Light resembles the previous Light Phone 2, regarded as the dumb phone that brings the essentials to users, including 4G LTE connectivity.

Kendrick Lamar's pgLang: Limited light phone Drop

The new device from Kendrick Lamar's pgLang will not have a colored screen and web browser with it, but it can make calls and texts to contacts via cellular connections, on its way for this week's limited drop. It can also play music and podcasts right on the device and also features a touch screen for its users.

Minimalist, Dumb Phones, and MORE

Companies like Apple, Google, Samsung, and others have all competed in the tech industry to debut the most advanced and powerful devices there are, centering on computers in one's pocket with the smartphone's development. The latest iPhone 15 can attest to that, as the device is best known for its capabilities to handle massive processes and deliver enhanced experiences.

On the other hand, the new Pixel 8 series is also one high-performance device, centering on the Android operating system to power it.

The company known as Light has also made a name for itself in the past, and back in 2018, they brought the Light Phone 2 for the world to experience, it is essentially a minimalist dumb phone that features 4G LTE. The device itself is not "dumb," but that is what the industry calls a device that is not under the "smartphone" spectrum.

This new collaboration between Light and pgLang is set to deliver a new version of the light phone, centering on all the essentials and needs from a device to be available on it, offering a distraction-free experience to users. The pgLang website will soon make the drop by November 2, offering only 250 units of the minimalist cell phone for users wanting a change.
