Massive speculations are set for the year 2024 that center on Apple's developments, but one of the most significant upgrades coming is for the iPad Pro lineup for next year. This is because recent reports center on the iPad Pro's OLED update for its next release, with Apple looking to deliver it with an improved display that moves away from its renowned Liquid Retina and Liquid Retina XDR.

Mark Gurman's latest answers to the Q&A portion of his Power On Newsletter have reinforced the belief that the iPad Pro lineup coming next year will sport upgraded OLED screens for the device. This information was something that Gurman has held on for many occasions now, firm with his analysis of a display change coming to Apple's iPad flagship.

This may center on Apple's iPad Pro variants including the 11-inch and the sub-13-inch (12.9" to be exact) choices, with this release being the "first major overhaul in half a decade."

Alongside this, there are also speculations that the latest M3 chips will power the new iPad Pros, seeing a significant change to next year's release from its last in 2022.

Will the iPad Pro OLED Upgrade be Worth It?

The Verge reported that an OLED upgrade would be worth it for the new iPad Pros, and this is because the LCD tech, including Liquid Retina and Liquid Retina XDR, are both cons of the device. First off, OLED may help in improving the contrast and blacks of the screen, allowing improvements to the overall display, as well as color enhancements.

It may also make way for an Always-On display for the iPad Pro, like what the iPhone offered.

Apple and its Relationship with OLEDs

OLED has become a big deal on Apple devices for a long time now, and this is because it is no longer a new thing for Cupertino's tech to sport one of the top display technologies in the world. However, it remains a myth for its other devices, especially for larger displays among its releases like the iPad lineup, with speculation that 2024's iPad Pro will soon see OLED, as well as 4TB max storage.

In previous speculations, design analyst Ross Young of the DSCC has released a report regarding the MacBook lineup's adoption of OLED screens, particularly for the Pro variants. Young claimed that Apple is set to bring the OLED by 2026 or 2027, with the MacBook Pro experiencing the new kind of display years away from its first possible outing.

More than six years ago, Apple introduced the OLED for the iPhone X until its present outing, and it has been one of the renowned features of the device in what its display has to offer.

However, it is a different story for other devices, yet there is a chance that the iPad Pro will see an OLED adoption by 2024, alongside the speculated M3 upgrade too.
