It is widely known that Netflix's next big move is set for cloud gaming, with the company already launching this service on a limited scale, but in the latest information, it promises to go beyond mobile games in the future. The Verge reported a recent conversation with Netflix's Leanne Loombe, its head of external games, and here, the executive laid out the plans for the future of its services towards cloud gaming.

"Changing based on the platform will absolutely happen when we start to expand out the cloud service into more regions and bring more games," explains Loombe. "Those games will be different creatively to the mobile games that we're making. Sometimes the games we launch on Netflix will be across mobile and TV and PC through the cloud. And sometimes there'll be a cloud game that's playable on TV and it will be really tailored to that experience."

Netflix's multi-platform experience that mainly centers on the app (for mobile, TV, and PC) offers a wide possibility in the future for the inter-accessibility of its titles, optimized for various setups.

What to Expect from Netflix's Take on Cloud Gaming

Netflix's limited beta for cloud gaming launched earlier this August centered on Games on TV and PC, with the iPhone controller app set to bring the peripheral for gamers. It initially offered the hit title, Oxenfree, to its first users, with the company looking to bring more titles for both the PC and TV platforms in the future.

It was also regarded that platform-specific games will utilize Netflix's algorithm to only be offered to select gamers with the applicable hardware.

Cloud Gaming Services in the World

The world is still torn between cloud gaming and owning a specific title whether it is a digital or a physical copy, but that does not mean that efforts towards the streaming service are ramped down. Various companies are already known for what they have to offer, with one of the top-regarded services centering on NVIDIA's GeForce Now, recently adding Xbox PC Game Pass Titles.

However, it is not a successful venture for all. It is worth notable that earlier this year, Google shut down its Stadia platform after almost four years of operations in the industry, despite being among the first to offer cloud-based game streaming.

Still, there are many looking to catch up on different services now, with Netflix known for announcing this venture earlier this August, alongside a report regarding Sony's PlayStation.

Cloud gaming offers massive possibilities for gamers as it offers a way to avoid the pain of non-compatibility for specific titles on a certain system. While there are still minimum requirements needed, cloud gaming aims to help reduce hardware reliance for certain games, with Netflix looking to offer more titles in the future and move away from the mobile gaming branding.
