Many countries around the world got Threads at the same time or around the period when Meta released the app, but it is not yet available in Europe until now. However, this is set to change in the last month of 2023 as reports are now claiming that the company is planning a massive expansion to its neighboring continent, with countries in Europe soon getting access to the text-based app.

It was said that while Threads saw a global launch amidst its arrival, the only hold out by Meta was for Europe because of EU regulations.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Threads is now looking to launch the app in Europe, with Meta's target date being this December, with the app available to download and use soon.

Today, users in the European region may already access the platform through its website, threads.net, but will only get to see posts from other users and what is available online. In this version, users cannot use or create their accounts yet and make posts, but that is coming this month.

According to the report, Meta is already looking to tweak the Threads app to comply with EU's regulations, with one significant law, the Digital Markets Act (DMA), among those it is preparing for.

After a Long While: When is Threads Coming?

After several months of a holdout in the European region since Meta released Threads in the third quarter of 2023, it is finally coming to the EU for its users to enjoy.

However, it was not specified by WSJ's report about when Threads is coming to bring the said app, with Meta not yet having any official announcements about its rollout.

Meta's Threads App: What it Offers

When Meta launched the Threads app, it offered a significant alternative to Twitter, now known as X, back when people were seeking a different experience apart from the existing platforms. However, it lacked features when it started.

This was not a problem for Meta, as the company released massive updates that improved the experiences on the app, including the Trending Topics feature earlier this year.

Meta's launch of the new Threads feature became a snowball for the company, as it offered more for the public to enjoy, making it one worthy app.

One of the most iconic releases of the platform is its Edit Button for posts, and what sets it apart from X is that it does not ask for any payments or subscriptions to use it.

Its seamless account creation if you already set up your Instagram account makes getting Threads worthwhile, apart from the many features that the platform offers now. While it only tapped into certain regions in the world, it is reportedly preparing for its anticipated launch in Europe, giving the region and its countries a chance to access the app without VPNs or waiting for it.
