Combining Nostalgia of Legos & Classic Cameras

Preceding its official launch by LEGO, a Polish retailer has granted enthusiasts an early glimpse into the eagerly awaited LEGO Ideas set - 21345 Polaroid OneStep SX-70 Camera, slated for release on January 1, 2024.

This set is a realization of Minibrick Productions' Ideas submission, as reported by The Verge. LEGO has demonstrated remarkable craftsmanship in capturing the essence of the iconic Polaroid OneStep, ensuring the faithful reproduction of its colors, proportions, and distinctive features.

Enthusiasts of cameras and photography will find a delightful synergy with the upcoming release of the 31147 Retro Camera. These two sets offer a harmonious combination for those who appreciate the nostalgic charm of classic cameras brought to life in LEGO form.

This adds an element of excitement and anticipation for LEGO enthusiasts, who eagerly await more details about the set's features and availability. The selection of this creation by the Ideas team was disclosed in October 2022, and now, it emerges as an exciting new addition to the LEGO lineup.

Examining the box's rear panel provides a comprehensive view of the LEGO Polaroid's diverse features, along with its dimensions, spanning 9cm (3.5 in.) in width and 9cm (3.5 in.) in height. The visual appeal of this creation is undeniable, showcasing LEGO's exceptional artistry in faithfully rendering the iconic Polaroid Camera.

Debuting as LEGO set number 21345, 9To5Toys reported that the forthcoming LEGO Polaroid OneStep is poised to be the inaugural Ideas kit of 2024. Comprising 516 pieces, this kit promises a faithful rendition of the original fan-submitted model.

Externally, the resemblance is striking, featuring the iconic rainbow stripe down the center and incorporating the same clever part usage as the original fan design. Notably, the front hinge allows users to unhitch it, mimicking the process of loading photos akin to the real-world counterpart.

While the LEGO Polaroid OneStep is slightly smaller than the actual camera, measuring around 75% of its size, it maintains a pushable shutter button and incorporates fitting branding throughout. An endearing Polaroid Land Camera printed element graces the front, enhancing the nostalgic charm of this LEGO adaptation.

Awaiting the official reveal, fans are anticipating confirmation of when the new LEGO Polaroid set will officially join the Ideas lineup. Priced at $79.99, Jay's Brick Blog. reported that is expected to make its way to store shelves, potentially in the early months of the new year.

Adding a compelling dimension to the story, 2024's LEGO camera offerings extend beyond the Polaroid set.

The Creator 3-in-1 series is poised to introduce a Retro Camera kit on January 1, setting the stage for an interesting scenario as a $20 brick-built film camera shares display space with its instant counterpart.

While it might not overshadow the charm of the Polaroid set, the contrast between these distinctive camera builds is bound to capture the attention of LEGO aficionados.
