The Holidays are the time to get in touch with the family, enjoy the comforts of the home, and celebrate this festive season, with Amazon offering Alexa as your companion for a smart home experience. That being said, using Alexa's default settings may already be a significant experience, but that does not mean you would stop there and not enjoy what it has to offer you.

For those who just received Amazon's smart home devices or have been using its default settings, it is time to change them and personalize their features.

Amazon Alexa: Personalize your Smart Home Experience

Alexa has a lot to offer without the need for a controlling device, but before that, users may set their preferences and settings for the generative AI-powered voice assistant to get the most out of their smart home.

First off, users may already delete their voice recordings stored by Alexa via the app, and go to Settings > Alexa Privacy > Review Voice History and opt to remove it all.

For Echo devices, there is also a Brief Mode feature, and to turn it on, users only need to go to the app's More menu > Settings > Alexa Preferences > and choose Voice Responses to set the AI to only playing a sound instead of repeating your command.

Personalize Alexa better in changing the Wake Word where you may set to different names instead of Amazon's chatbot name. Go to Settings > Device Settings > select the device and choose Wake Word from the preset names available.

Users can also set voice purchasing, by going to Settings > Account Settings > Voice Purchasing> Purchasing controls > and Select who can make purchases to ask Alexa for all you need to buy.

Is Using Alexa's Smart Home Features Worth It?

Alexa was made for the Smart Home, and Amazon has been massive behind it, also known for being part of the Matter coalition to empower these devices. These features will help expand more of Alexa's hands-free experiences, as well as new features to enjoy for all assistance needs, powered by Amazon's latest developments in AI.

Amazon Alexa and the Smart Home

Smart home experiences were widely applied to everyday items or those that are meant to do a single thing in one's space, including the Echo Pop from Amazon which features Alexa to assist your needs. Through these types of tech, the AI voice assistant offers a way to bring your needs via commands, offering a connected and hands-free experience for all.

While its Apple counterpart, the Siri AI voice assistant has been bashed because of Cupertino's development getting left behind, this is not the same for Amazon.

The recent updates on Alexa offer a way for people to get more from the voice assistant, already improving after its generative AI update, now more human-like

Accessibility features were also added, including the Eye Gaze which will allow challenged users to still use the feature without the need to touch or command it manually.

Amazon poured in massive new features to Alexa throughout the year, and this collective experience is accessible via Alexa-enabled devices, perfect during this holiday season.
