TikTok's AI Song

TikTok is venturing into the realm of AI-generated music with its latest feature, AI Song. Media Post reported that this innovative tool, powered by the extensive language model Bloom, allows users to craft songs from text prompts.

As users input lyrics into the text field while creating a post, TikTok recommends AI Song to enrich the content with suitable sounds, offering the additional option to toggle the song's genre.

Although AI Song isn't universally available yet, some TikTok users have eagerly embraced the feature, unleashing their creativity. "AI Song" is an experimental tool harnessing the power of AI to generate songs based on user-inputted prompts.

Fueled by Bloom, acknowledged as the world's largest open multilingual language model with over 176 billion parameters, this tool promises diverse and creative lyrical possibilities across 46 languages.

This feature seems to be an extension of ByteDance's previous AI music endeavor, the Ripple app, launched in selected markets last year. Ripple allowed users to input a melody through singing or humming, employing machine learning to craft a track around the initial input.

The "AI Song" option builds upon this foundation, potentially aiding TikTok creators in spontaneously creating viral hits or unique music. Moreover, if extended to business profiles, this could provide a copyright-free avenue for adding soundtracks to video content.

Transforming Content with AI

The rise of generative AI raises the prospect of transforming the stock content industry by offering unique, copyright-free content for users to freely incorporate. Similar trends are already visible in the use of AI-generated images on various websites.

With tools like the "AI Song" option, The Artist reported that stock audio may undergo a comparable transformation, contingent on the quality of outputs from the tool.

Despite reservations about the quality of AI-generated content and the possibility of copyright challenges, the rise of generative AI in diverse creative domains is gaining traction.

Although challenges may emerge, the present significance of TikTok's "AI Song" feature cannot be understated. Presently, this functionality is accessible to a limited group of users within the initial testing phase.

The initial outcomes are a mixed bag. Notably, despite the inclusion of auto-tuning vocals, some songs, like user Jonah Manzano's attempt to elongate the word "comedy," and Kristi Leilani's recreation of a Britney Spears song, notably off-key showcase vocals.

Although AI Song on TikTok appears to be in limited availability, The Verge reported that a few users have started to test its capabilities. Unfortunately, the initial outcomes are less than stellar, with many songs sounding off-key despite the presence of auto-tuning vocals.

For instance, Manzano's creation attempted to elongate the word "comedy" with unnecessary syllables. Another user, Kristi Leilani, made an endeavor to recreate a Britney Spears song, but the vocals turned out noticeably out of tune.
