A new feature is coming to the Xbox Remote Play app on iOS and Android, as Microsoft is introducing Touch Controls for the mobile platforms to use as an alternative to controllers. The goal is to add more playing options for users on the mobile app via the Remote Play experience, and this avoids the need to purchase a controller and connect it to the device.

This will help expand more of the remote gaming experience on the mobile platforms, as Microsoft looks to extend the Xbox experience for all.

Instead of relying on Xbox's peripherals and third-party controllers to play console games on the smartphone platforms, Microsoft has made it so to bring a new feature to enjoy Remote Play. This is the capability to use the Android and iOS touch screen features to control the games players are streaming from their consoles to the smartphone platforms.

Microsoft's purpose for this new feature is to allow gamers to get on-screen controls that will overlay the Xbox experience on the mobile.

That being said, Bluetooth controllers that are required to be connected to navigate and play are no longer required in the beta version release of this feature.

How to Get the Xbox Remote Play Beta for Touch Controls

The new Xbox Remote Play feature is available on their beta versions only but is now accessible for gamers from the app distribution platforms of Android and iOS respectively.

For Android, the Xbox beta app's version 2401.3.3 is now offering this experience via the Google Play Store, available with the full experience.

The same goes for the iOS, but is not accessible via the App Store directly, as users need to download the TestFlight on iOS to get this beta from Xbox.

Xbox's Remote Play and Cloud Gaming Feature

Remote Play has been a significant gaming experience added by different developers and gaming companies in the world, including the likes of PlayStation, Steam, and more. Microsoft is also getting its hands on the remote play experience by adding it to the Xbox, and it delivers a significant intuitive mobile experience that first offers a console-like experience that requires controllers.

Moreover, there is also Xbox's Cloud Gaming, a cloud-based games streaming platform that can bring the Xbox experience to any device, as long as it is connected to a stable internet network for both the console and the target device. Through the years, Xbox Cloud Gaming proved to be one of the more efficient and reliable cloud gaming services in the world, among the top-rated for these offers.

With Xbox offering more ways to experience and enjoy gaming on other devices, originally found on its consoles, it expands more of what gamers may access during times when their consoles are inaccessible. Xbox Remote Play's latest changes under the beta testing platform allow Android and iOS to directly play games with touch controls, with the controller now optional for users.
