The Nintendo Switch 2 rollout has been delayed, according to a report.

Nikkei reports that the Nintendo Switch 2 release will be in March 2025. The release of the much-awaited gaming console has been delayed to optimize early sales and give game developers more time to produce exciting games.

Many believe Nintendo postponed the introduction of the new Switch to avoid a repeat of a scenario during the original console's launch in 2017.

Given the popularity of the original Switch, Nintendo may be delaying the Switch 2 to reduce scalping. According to IGN, the strong scalping market that emerged during the March 2017 release of the Switch was fueled by high demand and product unavailability, prompting Nintendo to take measures to prevent a repeat of this scenario.

Possible Switch 2 Games Identified

Aside from its release date, many assumptions have been made about the Nintendo Switch 2, such as its price, and hardware specs, but no concrete information has been released.

TechTimes previously reported about the possible new features of the Nintendo Switch 2 console, including more storage space, longer battery life, and better performance when docked. Rumor has claimed that the next console will have a bigger screen and better portable capabilities.

The possibility of Nintendo partnering with Samsung to improve display quality for OLED screens is fascinating. A patent application suggests upcoming features, such as a removable, dual-screen gadget that calls to mind earlier handheld systems like the DS and 3DS.

Moreover, Nintendo gamers are immensely interested in the rumors circulating regarding possible partnerships with Nvidia and AMD.

In terms of games, fans are anticipating major titles such as Final Fantasy and Zelda will be available on the upcoming Nintendo console. There are also suggestions that Hi-Fi Rush may be released on the Nintendo Switch 2, according to Insider Gaming. However, the formal word on the matter may not come out for a few months.

After its unexpected shadow-drop at January 2023's Xbox developer direct, Hi-Fi Rush received mostly good reviews on Xbox and high marks from critics on PC. The video game reached 3 million players by August 2023.

Nintendo Switch 2 Delay Might Be Damaging

Over the previous year, investor expectations of a new game system drove Nintendo's stock up 53%. Investors were optimistic about Nintendo's future after the Switch 2's possible release boosted growth, as previously reported.

Nintendo remains silent on the Switch replacement. However, the rumored launch delay hurts the firm. Nintendo may struggle to retain market momentum if the Nintendo Switch 2 launches in early 2025 instead of December 2024, missing the important holiday season.

Despite delayed reports, Nintendo's Switch system is doing well. "Super Mario Bros. Movie" and a new Zelda game have increased interest in the gaming device, causing Nintendo to raise its fiscal year-ending March sales target to 15.5 million units.
