The latest in microSD cards are here from Samsung, and this uses the industry-first 'SD Express' technology which upgrades more of the storage device's capabilities in handling read and write features. Reports claim that the numbers Samsung boasted of with this sample SD Express card are faster than the average solid-state drive (SSD), making it a promising device for various uses. 

However, there are devices where it would no longer be able to be used, and this is for modern smartphones that removed the additional storage capabilities using the microSDs.

The latest press release from Samsung details the new SD Express microSD cards which it sampled for the tech industry, centering on this 256GB allocation for the tiny storage device. It boasts as much as 800 megabytes per second sequential read speed (Mbps), with the company also offering various options in the future. 

The SD Express interface is a low-power design, combining firmware technology, thermal management, and high performance. Samsung also claimed that it already started creating its 1 terabyte (TB) UHS-1 microSD card alongside this, centering on the next-generation microSD card for the company. 

"Despite their tiny size, these memory cards deliver powerful SSD-like performance and capacity to help users get more out of demanding modern and future applications," said Hangu Sohn, Vice President of the Memory Brand Product Biz Team at Samsung Electronics.

Where Could You Use microSD Cards Now? 

It is known that Samsung already stopped offering microSD card slots on its smartphones and other devices, but its renowned Galaxy Tab series still features a dedicated provision for this. Moreover, the SD Express may be used for various devices like digital cameras, GoPro, and other action cameras, and portable gaming consoles like the Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck, and others.

While Samsung is best known for its consumer electronics and smart home options, the company is also iconic for its various takes on memory and storage, offering its wide variety to different devices. Samsung's SSDs are highly regarded in the tech industry as not only do they come at an affordable price point and are widely available, but they also offer notable performance for a device. 

Moreover, the company is massive with its memory cards, offering new options for RAM chips for a computer or other applicable devices to expand the technology's capabilities with more space. The South Korean tech giant offers various options for this, including its flagship known as the PRO Ultimate which is meant for both creators and gamers alike. 

Recently, Samsung developed its take on DDR5 memory for computers, dubbing these as the 'Superfast' chips that offer 128GB variants alongside the lineup for more allocation for user needs. 

Now, the company yet again expands on storage, centering on the SD Express development which it first sampled for the world, offering microSD-available devices a newfound power for all needs.
