Samsung has scheduled the availability of 990 Pro 4TB SSD in October. Is it worth its price or not?

At the heart of this SSD lies the promise of unparalleled speed. Samsung proudly proclaims it as the SSD with the "fastest random read performance among PCIe 4.0 interface consumer SSDs on the market."

It doesn't stop there; the 4TB 990 Pro offers lightning-fast read/write speeds, improved power efficiency, and an extended lifespan.

Unmatched Versatility With or Without Heatsink

Samsung's commitment to versatility shines through with this release. According to Engadget's report, the 4TB option for SSD 990 Pro offers a variant with a heatsink and another one without a heatsink.

This way, you can use it for various purposes. From gaming consoles to ultra-thin laptops, this SSD will never go out of style and purpose.

With the South Korean tech giant's V-NAND chips, the newest SSD is created with finesse. Its impressive read and write speeds can hit up to 7,450 MB/s and 6,900 MB/s respectively.

Additionally, it maintains the same exceptional random speeds as its smaller counterparts, delivering 1,600K IOPS for read operations and 1,550K IOPS for write operations.

Notably, its endurance sees a significant boost, doubling from 1,200 TBW (terabytes written) in the 2TB version to an impressive 2,400 TBW, thanks to the higher capacity, not to mention its doubled cache size, now at 4GB.

It should be noted that Samsung claims it to be 50% more power efficient than 980 Pro, its predecessor model.

How Much is the Samsung 990 Pro 4TB?

By next month, we should see this 4TB SSD dropping through Samsung.com. The model with a heatsink will cost $355 while the one without a heatsink will be priced at $345.

Although it's quite expensive than the 2TB variant which sits at $190, its competitive edge will surpass the other brands thanks to its top-tier storage performance.
