OpenAI continues to innovate, with recent developments including enhancements to the GPT store and the unveiling of Sora, an advanced video-generation tool.

Now, the spotlight is on ChatGPT, with the introduction of a groundbreaking feature: "Read Aloud.'"This new capability allows the AI chatbot to articulate its responses audibly, providing a more accessible and dynamic user experience.

From text to talk, ChatGPT can now use Read Aloud feature to listen to your answers and read them aloud. It's now available in both web and mobile version of the AI chatbot.

The unveiling of the 'Read Aloud' feature, as announced in an official X (formerly Twitter) post by OpenAI, marks a breakthrough improvement towards enhancing accessibility. This feature caters to users with diverse accessibility needs, ensuring that everyone can engage seamlessly with ChatGPT regardless of their circumstances.

Whether users multitask or require auditory assistance, "Read Aloud" promises to be a valuable addition, especially for people who want to interact with the app.

Versatility and User-Friendly Interface

According to The Verge, the 'Read Aloud' feature is easily accessible on both the web and mobile versions of ChatGPT.

With five distinct voices to choose from, users have the flexibility to personalize their experience. Whether accessing ChatGPT via the web or mobile app, the "Read Aloud" feature is available to all users, including those utilizing the free version (GPT-3.5) or the premium GPT-4. Additionally, ChatGPT boasts multilingual support, with "Read Aloud" functionality extended across 37 languages.

How to Access 'Read Aloud'

Users can activate the "Read Aloud" feature on the desktop version by clicking on the speaker icon below the generated text.

Mobile app users can simply tap and hold the text to access the "Read Aloud" feature player, where they can control playback options such as play, pause, and rewind. It's important to note that the feature is gradually being rolled out, so availability may vary across regions, TechRadar says.

A Continuation of Voice-Related Innovations

The introduction of the "Read Aloud" feature builds upon previous voice-related enhancements introduced by OpenAI. In September 2023, OpenAI launched a voice chat feature, allowing users to interact with ChatGPT via voice input.

Evaluating Responses With Ease

The introduction of 'Read Aloud' not only enhances accessibility but also enriches user engagement and interaction with ChatGPT. Users can evaluate ChatGPT's responses more comprehensively by incorporating auditory feedback, fostering a deeper understanding of its capabilities. Moreover, this feature aligns with OpenAI's vision of ChatGPT as the leading generative AI tool, further solidifying its position in the AI landscape.

Last month, Tech Times reported that ChatGPT was tested to see if it could function as an online lawyer.

It turned out that based on the research by Charles Darwin University's Associate Professor Guzyal Hill, OpenAI's chatbot is not yet ready to give legal advice to people.

LLMs like ChatGPT can not differentiate different laws in different countries. For instance, it cannot distinguish between US and Australian law.
