In a different turn of events, Elon Musk allegedly decided to "kill" The Don Lemon Show, a supposed original content to stream on the social media, as part of its new "video first" approach. For unknown reasons from Musk, the show was canceled, and this was after Lemon and X reached a partnership and signed a contract to stream this exclusive video talk show.

The new approach of X would promote more of the platform as a video streaming one, with subscriptions being a must for users to watch exclusive content, but not for Don Lemon.

Don Lemon, the former CNN host, saw a surprising turn on his deal with X, with Elon Musk allegedly "killing" off his show hours before it premiered on X last March 12. Lemon claimed that after interviewing Musk for The Don Lemon Show, a talk show by the media personality with the X owner as its first guest, he was notified that the show was canceled by the billionaire.

While there are no explicit details shared by Lemon, as he too was surprised with how his supposedly premiering show on X was canceled, he reiterated that the show goes on and will be available on YouTube's platform come Monday, March 18.

Apparently, free speech absolutism doesn't apply when it comes to questions about him from people like me.

Supposedly, The Don Lemon show was among the first contracts X had with content creators to bring their content on the platform, as part of their "video first" approach which X CEO Linda Yaccarino reiterated.

Did Elon Musk Kill The Don Lemon Show? What Happened

It remains unknown if the X owner and tech billionaire was behind The Don Lemon Show losing its contract and partnership with the platform. However, while Lemon expressed his disbelief online, X's Business account claimed that the platform "champions free speech," and still allows The Don Lemon Show to be uploaded and distributed on the social media for the world to see.

Elon Musk and X's New Direction for the Social Media

The new direction for Elon Musk and his social media platform, X, is towards video, one that would center on a streaming platform that would go on par with the likes of Netflix, YouTube, and more. It was evident in the past feature that was spotted by an analyst, detailing the 'Video Spaces' which turned the previously audio-exclusive live streaming experience to feature visual cues.

Moreover, X has recently upgraded the communication experience in the social media, centering on the audio and video calling feature that was made available to more users. While it was introduced as a Premium feature before, Free accounts may now take advantage of these experiences without the need to subscribe, available at the DMs tab for contacts.

There is a lot that X wants to deliver to the world as it strives to be the top social media platform in the present, with Musk turning it into the "Everything app," with literally various features. After its days as one of the most prominent social media platforms, X is now looking at a video-first approach, and while it canceled its contract, The Don Lemon Show may continue its uploads here.
