Delivering Its 100th Electric School Bus

Thomas Built Buses has achieved a significant milestone by delivering its 1,000th electric school bus. Electrek reported that this achievement highlights the company's commitment to sustainability and innovation in the transportation sector.

Headquartered in High Point, North Carolina, Thomas Built Buses is a subsidiary of Daimler Truck North America, a leading manufacturer of commercial vehicles. 

By embracing electric technology, Thomas Built Buses is contributing to a cleaner and more environmentally friendly future for school transportation systems across the country. 

The company recently announced the delivery of its milestone electric school bus, the Saf-T-Liner C2 Jouley, to the Meriwether County School System in Georgia.

The Saf-T-Liner C2 Jouley is equipped with a standard battery capacity of 244 kWh and boasts 295 peak horsepower, providing ample power for efficient and reliable operation. 

It features advanced technology such as over-the-air battery management software updates and bilateral vehicle-to-grid (V2G) capability, enhancing its performance and flexibility.

With the ability to charge in just two to three hours using a DC fast charger and a range of up to 150 miles on a single charge, the Saf-T-Liner C2 Jouley is well-suited for urban and suburban routes. 

Its spacious design, capable of accommodating up to 81 passengers, makes it an ideal choice for transporting students safely and comfortably.

Eco-Friendly Solutions for Schools

This milestone delivery by Thomas Built Buses  not only showcases their leadership in the realm of electrified transportation but also underscores their commitment to providing eco-friendly  solutions for school districts across the nation.

By embracing the latest advancements in electric vehicle  technology, the company is not only reducing harmful emissions but also contributing to the creation of a more environmentally conscious future for generations to come.

Meriweather Schools, situated southwest of Atlanta with 2,400 students from pre-K to 12th grade, welcomed its first electric school buses with the introduction of the Jouley models. These eight buses will replace a portion of the district's current fleet of 46 diesel buses.

The acquisition was made possible through full funding from the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Clean School Bus grant program. Additionally, the district has applied for an additional four buses through the same program.

Meriwether County's proactive approach in leading the integration of electric school buses in Georgia is noteworthy. The 1,000th Jouley's involvement in fostering a cleaner future for the students marks a significant milestone for the initiative.
