Bayonetta is known for many things: impossible set-pieces, ridiculously over-the-top combat, maybe a few risqué poses - it's everything that makes action games great, without feeling the need to be a deeper, philosophical experience. It's incredible fun, polished to a mirror sheen.

With Bayonetta 2 seeing release late last year, it'd be nearly impossible for Platinum Games to come up with something new already. The series isn't known for annual releases, so seeing any news of a new game is huge. That being said, Platinum Games has gone and released the next Bayonetta game - and it's available in your browser!

Alright, yes - it would have been great to see the game announced for other, non-Nintendo consoles (which will never happen - sorry guys) but a browser game isn't all that bad, is it? It's got an 8-bit rendition of the first game's music, along with a cute pixelated version of Bayonetta herself - not exactly a true sequel, or like anything else in the series, but it's a nice time-waster.

It's also pretty difficult for a game with two buttons. Hitting enemies on the ground doesn't require anything more than a button press or two, but the Angels flying in at the top of the screen can be a huge pain in the rear...they might be the weakest enemies in the full games, but here, they'll spell your doom countless times.

So, does this browser game mean anything in regards to the future of Bayonetta? Probably not, though it's wise to never put anything past Platinum Games - you never know if they have anything up its sleeves...

The full 8-bit Bayonetta arcade game can be played from Platinum Games' website.
