Several sources and reports are already spreading massive rumors about the PlayStation 6, claiming that the next console will have a speculated release date, price, and specifications.

Once it is released, this would effectively replace the PS5, being the company's central gaming device for all the experiences available.

It is important to note that no information was yet released or confirmed by Sony regarding this console, and most of the data revealed were based on speculations.

Digital Trends presented the latest rumors on the PlayStation 6, centering on the console's upcoming pricing, release date, specifications, and more about its development. First off, the report cited Microsoft's court documents presented at its acquisition hearing for its merger with Activision Blizzard.

It was said that Microsoft expects that there will be no new PlayStation consoles until 2027, with the deal of keeping Call of Duty on the Sony platform until then.

The seven-year life cycle of Sony's consoles also dates the next PlayStation to 2027, given that PS5 was released in 2020.

What to expect from the PlayStation 6?

PlayStation's next-gen console is expected to be priced at around the $600 threshold, with AMD chips set to power the console like its partnership on the PS5.

Additionally, it was said to feature 4K quality at 120 fps, centering on a massive leap from 4K at 60 fps. It was reported that the PS6 could also offer 8k at 60 fps.

However, despite these supported rumors, particularly regarding its release date, it is important to take this information with a grain of salt.

PlayStation 6 and Sony

Earlier leaks and rumors about the PlayStation 6 claimed that it would be the next console that Sony would release after the 2020 drop of the original PS5 and the 2023 PS5, a.k.a. Slim.

In this alleged claim, Sony will no longer release a PS5 Pro, best known as the improved version of the PlayStation 5 compared to its current releases and based on its previous versions.

For the PlayStation 4, the original release was followed by the PS4 Slim and the PS4 Pro that came out in 2016.

Additionally, Sony's renowned consoles have a seven-year life cycle, and since the PlayStation 5 was released in 2020, fans, analysts, and gamers expect it by 2027

Similar to earlier reports, the 2027 release date for the PlayStation 6 is also expected, but Sony has not yet indicated or mentioned this console.

Like new releases, the PS6 is expected to be a better-performing console than the PS5, but it was reportedly $100 more expensive than the previous one. The device is powered by AMD chips and a new SSD.
