The latest addition to Apple TV's tvOS 17 is now the source of a rumor, with sources claiming that the company is planning to bring an Apple TV with a camera, one that could support FaceTime with the black box.

The arrival of FaceTime on tvOS 17 allows the user to enjoy video calling or conferences from the black box itself, with the iPhone's Continuity Camera helping bring the picture to the stream.

Returning rumors are now corroborating a future Apple TV with a camera for Apple, offering users a chance to use a single device only, without the requirement of owning an iPhone for video.

The latest Power On newsletter from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman brings back a rumor from last year regarding Cupertino developing an Apple TV with a camera embedded in its body.

Effectively, this will help users no longer use an iPhone's rear camera for their video calling or conferencing needs, with the 4K black box capable of delivering the features itself.

Additionally, this would significantly increase the adoption of FaceTime's video features, which can read hand gestures during calls to create 3D effects.

This means that users who no longer own an iPhone but use the Apple TV with the camera may still enjoy what it has to offer, including FaceTime and more.

Latest tvOS 17 Brings FaceTime to Apple TV

Last year, tvOS 17 was introduced, enabling Apple TV to stream more than movies, series, and live games for users who use the device.

The FaceTime app available on tvOS would help customize the experience on the big screen, giving the other person in the call a chance to be seen and heard clearly using their smart TV.

Apple TV FaceTime, Continuity Camera

Apple is planning a massive integration of usual features on Cupertino's mobile devices to the Apple TV, alongside other features that could help upgrade more of its smart home features.

The announced tvOS 17 from WWDC 2023 promised a significant upgrade to the service, starting with the addition of FaceTime to the platform, using the iPhone's Continuity Camera for its video feed.

The tvOS 17 version, which brought new features for Apple TV, was officially released to the public in Fall 2023 after spending a good time in the beta testing program for users to try.

Apart from FaceTime, users may also enjoy a karaoke experience with Apple TV, featuring Apple Music's technology and the continuity camera that captures movements.

Since last year's tvOS 17 release, Apple has been expected to integrate more into its TV black box device, and apparently, these are not only new apps or experiences for the device.

With FaceTime being a staple to Apple TV, rumors claim that Cupertino may soon deliver its 4K black box with a camera that no longer needs an iPhone for the video feed for calls and more.
