The blue verification checkmark of the X social media will soon remove the ability to hide it from people who follow them or users who search their profiles on the platform.

Before this, Musk and X previously gave users the ability to hide their blue checks if they chose to do so, not broadcasting to the world that they were subscribed to X Premium and got their checkmarks by paying for it.

Users are now sharing that there were notices sent by X to verified users, with the feature soon no longer available to toggle on or off.

Several users are sharing the notification they got from X, claiming that their blue checkmark verification will no longer be hidden if using this feature or not. By default, like what Twitter previously practiced, all verified users will have the checkmark appear beside their display name on their profiles, available for all users to see when searching for a specific person.

As per X, "The hide your checkmark feature of X Premium is going away soon. Tap to manage your X Premium features."

The latest update did not say when X would remove the said hide checkmark feature, but it will arrive shortly, speculated within a few weeks or a month.

No More Hiding X Blue Check under Premium

While people who paid for X Premium are not all about verification checks, they tend to hide it from friends, followers, and the general public. However, that feature would no longer be possible.

Users also have speculations behind this, claiming that it came after giving Premium and blue checks for free to users with more than 2,000 followers on the platform.

X and Its Latest Changes on the App

There are massive changes that took place on X in the first few months of 2024 alone, and these are significant new features that Elon Musk's platform introduced as part of its goals to bring the Everything app. First off, X introduced the move of NSFW content to specific groups, a.k.a. Communities, to which the company would remove all explicit content on the main feed and would only be available behind closed doors.

It was also this year when Musk and X announced the arrival of its xAI development for a chatbot, Grok AI, initially available to X Premium subscribers. For now, the access to Grok is hidden behind a paywall, but there were hints about it being available for everyone to experience, and it may be similar to ChatGPT's access, where there are free certain parts, but the entire features would be accessible under subscription.

Recently, the return of the free blue checkmarks where users get only to apply their credentials to get the verification sparked massive confusion for those who paid for it.

Now, users who are under the X Premium subscription, alongside their complimentary verification, can no longer hide the fact that they are subscribers on their profile on X.
