Samsung India is reportedly offering customers new screen replacements after a new update has caused screens of different Galaxy Models to appear with green lines. The issue started plaguing Galaxy users after they updated to One UI 6.1 earlier this month.

According to @tarunvats33, a Samsung customer support agent has informed users that the company is providing one free screen replacement to those who are impacted by this issue with models like the Galaxy S22 Ultra (SM-S908E), S21 (SM-G991B), S21+ (SM-G996B), and S21 Ultra (SM-G998B).

The Indian Express adds that Samsung Galaxy S20/S20+/S20 Ultra and the Samsung Galaxy Note 20/Note 20 Ultra are also eligible for repair.

The smartphone must not have any physical or water damage to qualify, and in addition to a brand-new display, Samsung is including a new battery with each repair.

This replacement offer is only valid for phones bought within the last three years and is currently limited to India. Sources indicate that there is no information regarding how users who do not fit the standards can get their screens replaced.

There is a deadline for claiming the benefit, even if the impacted and qualified phones don't necessarily need to be under warranty to receive the free screen replacement.

To take advantage of the offer, owners of Galaxy phones with green lines have until April 30, 2024, to schedule an appointment with a Samsung service center.

One UI 6.1 Issues

Previous reports also suggest that many of Samsung's One UI 6.1 users are experiencing frozen screens or unresponsive touches, with some even stating that only the S Pen is working.

Reverting to the One UI 6.0 firmware is the sole remedy for impacted devices. Reverting to the previous version has reportedly allowed users to use the touchscreen again. All data should be backed up before beginning this process.

Social media sites like Reddit and Samsung Community forums are flooded with reports of touchscreen malfunctions. Most users report that the issue still exists after trying various troubleshooting techniques, including restarting or resetting the device. While some users have experienced brief relief following app optimization, not all users have experienced this.

One UI 6.1 Comes with Galaxy AI

Although the One UI 6.1 update appears to be negatively impacting screens, Samsung's announcement last week that the much-desired Galaxy AI will be arriving on other devices in tandem with One UI 6.1 seemed encouraging.

Galaxy AI, the high-end mobile AI experience initially revealed in the most recent Galaxy S24 series, will be available to users of the Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy Z Flip4 foldable phones, Galaxy Z Fold4, and Galaxy Tab S8 series tablets.

The popular Galaxy AI features Chat Assist, AI-Generated Wallpaper, Generative Edit, Note Assist, Circle to Search with Google,  Interpreter, Live Translate, and Edit Suggestion are now available to a larger global audience with the One UI 6.1 update. Samsung announced the Galaxy S24, its most recent flagship smartphone, which performed admirably after launch.
