A new report brings to light a tactic by pedophiles and bad actors. They are allegedly now using AI-generated children deepfake nudes to extort the victims into giving more explicit material.

Using deepfake child porn, the criminals have leverage to present to victims to convince them to send real explicit images, as detailed by a manual found on the dark web.

Through these suggested tools, clothed and appropriate images of the victims are "nudified" and used against them to get real images or face the threat of exposure.

The Internet Watch Foundation (via The Guardian) unveiled a recent discovery where pedophiles are now led to use generative AI tools to create children deepfake media for extortion.

Using the images gathered from children via the internet or sent to them, these pedophiles and bad actors use AI tools to remove the clothing and create fake child porn content.

While others sell or share them online, this new tactic is now focusing on extorting the victims by showing them the generated images and asking the underaged to send the real deal to avoid being doxxed or exposed.

This follows last year's rising cases of sextortion, which focused on manipulating the victims to send graphic images and then threatening to upload them online unless they pay with money.

Dark Web Discovery: Encouraging AI Deepfakes for Extortion

IWF's discovery on the dark web centers on a manual that encourages the use of "nudifying" tools to create deepfake child porn and use it against their victims for extortion.

The manual points to various tools that can produce realistic content, and the anonymous author already boasts of coercing 13-year-old girls to send authentic, explicit images using the tactic.

The IWF said the document had already been passed on to the UK's National Crime Agency.

AI Child Porn and Deepfakes: On the Rise

Deepfakes have come a long way from making celebrities or renowned personalities campaign for a certain belief, even if it is not accurate in real life.

The abundance of AI-powered image generators has led to massive cases of fake child porn, making it possible to create them and make them appear realistic, one that is now a significant problem across the world

An alarming case of child porn deepfakes spread across communities and schools are seen in many regions, and this includes Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and more.

Some countries already made this deepfake child pornography creation a crime, with Australia successfully convicting a 48-year-old Tasmanian man for this heinous act.

In this digital age, almost everyone has a record of themselves online, with various images and media available here, one that anyone may use to create fake explicit materials for their gains.

The IWF wants to rid the world of the child porn deepfake problem altogether, with the dark web manual now sent over to the UK agency, and help prevent AI child abuse extortion.
