Your next Lego set might be a little wibbly wobbly timey wimey, thanks to a new deal between the BBC Worldwide and Lego.

That's right, the first Doctor Who Lego set is in production and the first sets will hit retail shelves later this year.

Although it's not clear which Doctors and other characters are part of the set, Lego promises that it will have "a range of Doctors, companions and monsters from across the show's history."

It's likely that we'll see most of the Doctors represented in the set, along with the first official Lego Daleks. Exterminate!

This news comes after a concept Doctor Who Lego set designed by series fan Andrew Clark received 10,000 votes in a Lego crowdsourced competition.

Clark's set featured a variety of characters familiar to Doctor Who fans, including several Doctors and companions, along with the terrifying Weeping Angels and Cybermen.

Considering the long history of Doctor Who, it's almost surprising that it took this long to get the show immortalized in tiny brick sets, but at least now, it's official.

"Both Doctor Who and Lego enjoy a particularly close relationship with their fans and I can't wait to see what Lego produce," says Marcus Arthur, MD of BBC Worldwide.

Lego is also releasing another set from their Ideas competition, for Disney's Wall-E.

"We're extremely excited to announce that a Doctor Who and a WALL-E set will be released as our next LEGO Ideas fan based sets, congratulations to the designers Andrew Clark and Angus MacLane!" says Emma Owen, spokesperson for LEGO Ideas UK. "After receiving over 10,000 votes from the online community and having gone through rigorous toy testing from our expert panel, these awesome sets are on track to be on shelves later this year."

Lego Ideas is an online community where fans can submit their designs for new Lego products. Those that get 10,000 votes get a chance to have their sets made real and sold as part of Lego's product portfolio. So far, nine products have made it through Ideas and into production, including a Lego set for The Big Bang Theory.
