If someone were to receive a call notifying them of an issue with their bank account, they would most likely feel a sense of urgency and concern. Fearing for the safety of their finances, they may act quickly, often following the caller's instructions with no hesitation. Scammers use this urgency to manipulate individuals into revealing private information, having become increasingly proficient at tricking people into trusting them as callers.

Today's scammers have become even more sophisticated, using AI to mimic the voices of family members, creating a false sense of trust. This alarming use of AI adds a layer of complexity to traditional scams, making it increasingly difficult to distinguish between genuine calls and fraudulent ones.

To address this growing challenge, Sync.me has launched a new app called Livecaller, designed specifically for Apple users. Integrated into the latest technology of iOS 18, the app is the first time Apple users can receive this level of enhanced security without an added cost, making protection accessible to all users.

Following the introduction of Apple's Live Caller ID Lookup framework, the Livecaller app can identify and flag spam and scam calls, using its pool of 4 billion numbers to verify callers. This eliminates the guessing games, allowing users to confidently answer the phone because they know who is on the other end.

Sync.me's CEO and Co-Founder, Ken Vinner, explains: "As leaders in the caller ID and spam prevention space, we're happy to bring Livecaller to iPhone users for the first time, offering the most effective protection available, free of charge. This marks a major milestone in providing accessible tools to help users manage unwanted calls, and we're thrilled to offer this enhanced protection to iPhone users for the first time."

When a phone call is received, Livecaller automatically converts the incoming number into a coded format, ensuring that it can't be read or accessed by humans. Then, the coded number is validated using Livecallers' bank of numbers. Once the caller's identity is verified, the information is securely shared back to the Livecaller user's iPhone.

This process is completed without collecting personal data from the user, requiring no additional input to maintain a high level of privacy. Additionally, since the app has access to a bank of 4 billion numbers, its international coverage allows spam detection no matter where the user is. Unlike other third-party apps used for caller identification, Livecaller uses the newest iOS 18 technology and does not require users to open any additional apps to access its features.

The app will be available for download here starting May 6th, 2025.

While the phone was originally used to keep people connected, it has also become a tool that scammers use to deceive and exploit others. Fortunately, technology today can help restore the phone's original purpose and protect users from fraudulent calls, allowing them to communicate and answer the phone with confidence.
