Award-winning actress and author Jamie Lee Curtis has gone on social media to publicly call out Mark Zuckerberg and Meta for ignoring her requests to take down an AI deepfake video using her likeness.

The said video has been circulating all over Facebook and Instagram, spreading fake information and ideals that go against the Hollywood star's beliefs.

Curtis joins the many artists and personalities whose face and voice were cloned by generative AI to promote scams or distasteful beliefs that tarnish their reputation and go against what they stand for.

Jamie Lee Curtis Publicly Calls Out Zuck, Meta

A new post from Jamie Lee Curtis' verified Instagram account shared how Meta and CEO Mark Zuckerberg have ignored her requests to take down AI deepfake videos of her circulating online. The actress said that she had gone through the proper channels to request the takedown of said videos, but so far, she has not gotten any response from the company and its executives.

Curtis said that Zuckerberg does not follow her on Instagram, so she cannot drop a direct message to the executive, which is why she decided to go public with her complaints.

Curtis Wants Zuck to Takedown AI Deepfake

The Hollywood star revealed screenshots of her attempt to message the Meta CEO about the said deepfake video that is circulating online.

Curtis revealed that the clip was taken from her previous interview with MSNBC where she was talking about the Los Angeles wildfires, but in the deepfaked video, the context and content was changed to her supposedly promoting a brand.

Through this public call out, Curtis hopes that Meta and Zuckerberg would look into the matter, specifically "to police it and remove it."

AI Deepfakes That Victimize Celebrities

Celebrities like Jamie Lee Curtis have been the top victims that deepfakes have targeted over the years, and with the arrival of generative AI, the creations have become more convincing and lifelike, further sowing chaos among the public.

Singer-songwriter Taylor Swift also fell prey to deepfake creators where explicit photos of her circulated online. She likewise called out President Donald Trump for user her likeness for his campaign.

Scarlett Johansson has also been a victim of deepfakes for decades but has drawn the line over a recent development from OpenAI. ChatGPT recently shared personas that offered one called "Sky," which closely resembles Johansson's previous character in "Her," which she asked to be taken down.
