Google's Find Hub Replaces Find My Device to Locate, Keep Track of Items, Smartphones, and More

Find Hub is the expansion from Google for all things tracking.

The latest shake up from Google arrives before its I/O 2025 showcase as the company has now introduced the new "Find Hub" platform which officially replaces the "Find My Device" tool on Android devices.

This newest change to the feature expands on locating and tracking other items apart from smart devices as it also accounts for the smart trackers attached to bags and more.

This can also be used on other items, pets, and more that users may locate using the Find Hub if registered on the platform.

Google's Find Hub Replaces Find My Device

The latest Android Show event has introduced a massive expansion in the Find My Device experience from Google as it has now been changed to "Find Hub," which focuses on more than smart devices.

Google also unveiled that it will soon allow the capabilities of finding nearby items using the ultra-wide band tags (UWB) that will first be available on moto tags.

The company also revealed that it will soon integrate satellite connectivity to Find Hub that will allow users to stay connected to friends or family despite losing cellular network.

Find Hub Expands Tracking Items and More

Find Hub's overhaul makes tracking and locating different kinds of items a breeze, especially with the emergence of smart trackers like Chipolo, Tile, and more as they are also available for integration on the platform.

Apart from this, tracking luggage would also be easier in the future as Google will allow users to share the Bluetooth tag location of their items to select airlines for improved experiences in retrieving lost items in the airport.

Google's Find My Version on Android

Apple may have popularized the device-based smart tracking feature with the introduction of the iOS' Find My app, but Google had an answer for it on Android for over a decade with Find My Device.

Last year, Google took the Find My Device experience up a notch by expanding on the features, accessibility, and compatibility, making it a more comprehensive platform for locating items and other needs.

Another massive feature introduced for Android's Find My Device was the capability to track devices even when they are offline, and this also works as a security feature for users who want more peace of mind. In case a device gets stolen and turned off or it run out of battery when lost, offline tracking would ensure that users may still be able to find their device via the Android platform.

Google's Find My Device has also been significantly helpful over the years as it has been the app that Android devices rely on to locate their devices like smartphones, tablets, and more whenever they are lost or stolen. Additionally, during the era of smart trackers being used for negative purposes, Google's Find My Device helps in detecting unwanted trackers in one's possession.
