It looks like Microsoft is making good on its promise to support other consoles with the announcement of an upcoming PlayStation 5 version of Senua's Saga: Hellblade II.

Ninja Theory has released tons of games on PlayStation over the years, including Heavenly Sword on PlayStation 3 in 2007 and Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice on PS4 ten years later in 2017.

As the developer was brought into the Xbox Game Studios fold, the sequel to the original Hellblade game was released for Xbox and PC exclusively, so this new development is a nice full-circle moment for the company.

Set to arrive on PS5 this summer, the title will work on PS5 and PS5 Pro, with a handful of new features that will also come to Xbox Series X/S, Xbox PC, and Steam as a free download.

The developer left any new details to a later date but dropped a link to wishlist the game at the PlayStation Store.

The original title follows the titular character as she takes a trip to Helheim, the Norse underworld, to rescue the soul of her deceased lover, Dillion, from Hela, the goddess of the dead.

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice explores themes of mental illness, especially psychosis, as Senua experiences many auditory hallucinations, called Furies in the game, as well as visual delusions. The developer collaborated with neuroscientists, mental health specialists, and people with lived experiences to create the system, which is integral to the gameplay and storytelling.
