I woke up a few days ago with a real crick in my neck. On the right side of my body and extending down to my right shoulder, this pain was pretty intense. I could still turn my head, sure, but it hurt to do so if I bent my neck forward while turning.

So, of course, I turned to a gadget to help me feel better.

The Bob and Brad Q2 Pro Mini Massage Gun has several attachments, with a soft spherical head, a soft head that looks like a toy hammer, and two heads that offer more directed vibration.

It's the final attachment, tho, that I reached for: the hot and cold attachment. My neck felt much better after a few minutes of using the heat setting on this attachment.

This mini massager is made for on-the-go, with a compact size and a delightful little storage container that you can easily slip into a backpack or keep in the car for your various trips. It charges via USB-C using a standard 5W/2A phone adapter (like the original iPhone ones), and offers five speed settings that range from 1800 to 3000 percussions per minute.

All of this in a little device about the size of a standard water bottle.

The hot and cold head needs charging too, and it does so via a USB-C port, just like the larger unit.

It's also pretty quiet: the company claims it runs at 30-50Db, which means for me that I can use it around others without disturbing them too much. Mostly, though, they just want to use it for themselves.

Bob Schrupp and Brad Heineck are licensed physical therapists who started inventing products to get fit and stay healthy and pain free. They've become active voices on social media as well, with over 4 million YouTube subscribers. The products, including larger, more expensive massagers and things like hand spas and weighted, headed blankets, can be found on their website, on Amazon, and at retailers like Walmart.

Attaching one of the massager heads is easy; you just screw it into place. Removing it is just a twist in the opposite direction. Of course, you'll want to turn off the massager while you do so. It's tough to screw an attachment into the right spot when it's vibrating at 1800 percussions per minute.

The Bob and Brad Q2 Pro Mini Massage Gun comes with a padded case, and each attachment, including the hot/cold head, has its own little section to sit in, making sure nothing rolls around while moving about. You also get a little mesh pocket that includes a decently long USB-C cord, two little replacement gasket thingies, and a user manual that also suggests which attachment to use on which muscles in your body.

For example, your abdominals will benefit from two minutes with the ball head. In fact, all of the suggestions use the ball head, so you'll have to figure out the rest of the attachments on your own.

I've used the U-shaped attachment on the back of my neck, the soft accordion-like air cushion head up closer to my head (don't vibrate your brain too much, folks), and the bullet head to get some deep relief in my shoulder muscles.

You turn the massager itself on and off with a couple-second push on the button on the unit, and a line of blue lights tells you what speed you're set at. If the little electric bolt is blue, it means your battery is above 30%, and if it's red, you're between 20% and 30%. Red and flashing? You're below 20% and need to charge that little gadget up already.

Ultimately, the Bob and Brad Q2 Pro Mini Massage Gun is a fantastic little device that just works. It's been a shoulder saver for me, and the hot/cold head is a unique addition in a massager so small. If you're looking for a portable, easy-to-use massage gun that you can easily take with you on trips or use at home, this is worth a look.
