The Game Awards 2025 Jennifer English Wins 'Best Performance' for 'Clair Obscur: Expedition 33'

Jennifer English won The Game Awards 2025's Best Performance award for her role as Maelle in "Clair Obscur: Expedition 33."

However, it is not only English's performance that wowed the crowd, particularly as in her acceptance speech, she also cited the battle and hardships she faced as a neurodivergent person.

English won this year's The Game Awards for the "Best Performance" category for her role as Maelle in "Clair Obscur: Expedition 33" despite the tight competition in this year's awards show.

English went up against "Expedition 33" co-stars Ben Starr, who voiced the mysterious character Verso, and Charlie Cox, who starred as Gustave. Other nominees include "Ghost of Yotei's" Erika Ishii, "Silent Hill f's" Konatsu Kato, and "Indiana Jones and the Great Circle's" Troy Baker.

English Talks About Neurodivergence

According to IGN, English's acceptance speech mentioned her condition as a neurodivergent person, making her struggles known to the public, as well as how she pushed herself to deliver Maelle in "Expedition 33," alongside other roles.

"To every neurodivergent person watching, this one is for you," said English.

English also thanked the neurodivergent community in her speech, dedicating her award to every person who experiences the same challenges. The Best Performance recipient said that having the condition is something that feels like they are "stuck in hard mode."

The British actress thanked her girlfriend and fellow actor, Aliona Baranova, as well as the "Clair Obscur: Expedition 33" team for their achievements this year.

As of press time, "Clair Obscur" bagged the Best Indie Game award, Best Art Direction, and Debut Indie Game awards in the latest edition of The Game Awards.
