'Fortnite' V-Bucks Pricing Changes Go Live in the US—Epic Games Explains Why

Your next V-Bucks purchase will cost you more in real-life money.

"Fortnite" is now seeing a price hike for its in-game currency, V-Bucks, as Epic Games announced the latest changes for those in the United States.

'Fortnite' V-Bucks Price Hike Now In Effect in the US

Epic Games shared a new announcement on its website, which details the latest changes to "Fortnite's" V-Bucks, as there is somewhat a price hike to the in-game currency.

However, instead of increasing the price of purchase packs of "Fortnite's" in-game currency, Epic decreased the number of V-Bucks users receive when purchasing it using real-world money.

The new chart below shows the new conversion from US dollars to in-game V-Bucks:

  • $8.99 Pack — Before: 1,000 V-Bucks; Now: 800 V-Bucks; Epic Rewards: +$1.79 Rebate
  • $22.99 Pack — Before: 2,800 V-Bucks; Now: 2,400 V-Bucks; Epic Rewards: +$4.59 Rebate
  • $36.99 Pack — Before: 5,000 V-Bucks; Now: 4,500 V-Bucks; Epic Rewards: +$7.39 Rebate
  • $89.99 Pack — Before: 13,500 V-Bucks; Now: 12,500 V-Bucks; Epic Rewards: +$17.99 Rebate

Based on the new chart, users receive fewer V-Bucks from Epic Games, ranging from 200 to 1,000 V-Bucks depending on the pack they choose. However, the pricing remains the same for each pack they purchase.

That being said, users who purchase their V-Bucks directly via the Epic Games Store or Epic's payment system across iOS, Android, and PC get a 20% rebate for every pack purchase.

Epic Games Explains Why There Are Changes

According to Epic Games, the reason behind their price changes on the in-game currency centers on the increased cost of the battle royale game's operations.

"The cost of running Fortnite has gone up a lot, and we're raising prices to help pay the bills," said Epic.

It is important to note that this change will take effect next week, specifically on March 19, and apply to the entire United States region.

Other regions' pricing will vary, so it is best to check the Epic Games Store and further announcements from the developer.
