The city of Ghent in Belgium recently played host to its third annual "Ghent Light Festival." A unique merging of music and techno-art, the festival is a showcase for things like what you're about to see.

Titled "Dirty Monitor," this video features a sophisticated light show projected onto the exterior of St. Peter's abbey in Ghent. We have no idea how this is accomplished; the way the projection is perfectly mapped to the surface of the church is just mind-boggling. Around the 2:07 mark, a piece of music kicks in that you might recognize: it's composer Ramin Djadawi's main title theme for Game of Thrones. At the same time, the projection depicts the construction of a church using a similar "pop-up book" style to Game of Thrones's opening credits.

Even though the part inspired by Game of Thrones is only one small section of this 12-minute video, we recommend watching the whole thing. It's mesmerizing.

Interested in learning more about the Ghent Light Festival? Check out the event's official website. Likewise, the festival program lists the titles of the more than 40 light installations that took place around Ghent, so a quick YouTube search for "ghent" and a light show's title should turn up plenty of videos from the festival.
