The upcoming James Bond prequel game, "007 First Light," is already being teased to get a possible sequel by its director.

'007 First Light' Director Teases Possible Sequel

ComicBook Gaming reported that IO Interactive is already thinking ahead as the director of "007 First Light" has recently opened up about the possibility of a sequel coming down the road, even as the game is still weeks away from launch.

"007 First Light" director Hakan Abrak revealed during an interview with The Game Business that IO Interactive is open to making a sequel, as long as players end up connecting with the studio's version of James Bond.

Abrak reported that those in charge at Amazon already know the game to be a great title, and that Amazon has since become a huge supporter of the project after getting their hands on it.

When asked about a follow-up, Abrak was direct but measured. He said there is no doubt that both Amazon MGM and IO Interactive want to see how the game performs, and that a key question is whether the new version of Bond will build a community around him.

Abrak noted, "If this goes really well and it's a beloved thing from the community, why not?"

'007 First Light' Is Not Yet Here: When's It Coming?

"007 First Light" was initially announced back in 2020, meaning the road to its release has been a long one for fans of IO Interactive and the "James Bond" franchise.

The game is set to release on May 27th for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. A Nintendo Switch 2 version is also in the works and is planned to arrive before the end of 2026.

That said, in the past decades, James Bond games have largely been absent, primarily due to the diminished popularity of later titles in the franchise.

"007 First Light" now has the chance to change that, and all eyes are on how it lands at the end of the month.
