A major update is coming to "Grand Theft Auto Online" this summer, and it was recently confirmed by Rockstar Games subtly. The update is said to deliver new content, improvements, and more.

That said, it may be shaping up to be a bittersweet update as there are speculations that this may be the final update for "GTA Online" as Rockstar may focus even more on the mainline sequel, "GTA VI."

'GTA Online' Confirms Major Summer Update Coming

Rockstar Games confirmed in their latest blog post that there is a new update coming to "GTA Online" this summer. The revelation was tucked under the Upcoming Improvements section of the announcement.

GameRant likewise confirmed that a new update is now confirmed for summer, which will be followed by the launch of "GTA VI" come November 19.

According to Rockstar, they are still committed to working on making "GTA Online" a better experience for all players, and this includes the improvements and new content for the game.

Alongside this, it was also revealed that it will be adjusting vehicle prices so that certain vehicles are more accessible and better reflect their value.

Finally, Rockstar said there is plenty more to look forward to, including a variety of special events and celebrations alongside the new update.

Is This the Final Update Because of 'GTA VI'?

The last major update for "Grand Theft Auto Online" was released for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC in December 2025.

The update finally gave fans one of their biggest requests, and that is the ability to purchase mansions in Los Santos under the "A Safehouse in the Hills" event.

The update also added new missions, new vehicles, and the return of Michael De Santa, one of "Grand Theft Auto 5's" three main protagonists.

Before "Grand Theft Auto 6's" most recent delay, many had anticipated that the December 2025 update would be the final one for "GTA Online."

Despite this potentially being the final update, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said earlier this year that he has "every reason to believe" that support for "GTA Online" will continue after "GTA VI" is released.
