The modern "Pokémon Trading Card Game" market continues experiencing intense speculation as collectors search for affordable alternatives to ultra-rare chase cards. This time, a seemingly ordinary Bulbasaur #37 promo card has suddenly surged in value after fans discovered a tiny hidden Pikachu silhouette buried within the artwork.
The growing frenzy is tied to the massively popular "Ascended Heroes" expansion, a "Pokémon TCG" set known for its highly detailed full-art cards and increasingly difficult pull rates.
'Treekachu' Remains One of Pokémon TCG's Biggest Chase Cards
The most sought-after card from "Ascended Heroes" is Pikachu ex #276, commonly referred to by collectors as "Treekachu" because of its forest-inspired artwork.
The card has become one of the hottest collectibles in the hobby, with raw copies reportedly selling for more than $1,000 while PSA 10 graded versions have surpassed $4,000.
However, "Ascended Heroes" booster boxes remain expensive and difficult to find, making the elusive Pikachu card nearly impossible for many collectors to obtain. Even those opening large quantities of packs face extremely low odds due to the expansion's massive card pool.
As a result, collectors have increasingly shifted toward lower-cost alternatives featuring similar artwork themes or hidden references connected to the popular Pikachu card.
Bulbasaur Promo Card Prices Suddenly Spike
Before the latest trend emerged, collectors had already been targeting the Crown Zenith "Leaf Pikachu" card, which steadily increased in value throughout 2025 and 2026.
Now, attention has shifted to the Bulbasaur #37 promo card after fans identified a hidden Pikachu silhouette within the forest background.
According to Polygon, collectors quickly began referring to the card as a "secret Treekachu," causing demand to spike almost overnight.
Reports indicate the promo card jumped from roughly $20 to $70 after the discovery spread across online communities and social media platforms.
Daily sales activity also increased significantly as collectors rushed to secure copies before prices climbed further.
'Pokémon TCG' Speculation
Although the Bulbasaur promo remains relatively affordable compared to high-end Pokémon cards, its sudden popularity only exposes how unpredictable the cards that you're holding or collecting right now are.
Ironically, some fans believe the hidden Pikachu likely references Viridian Forest from the original Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue games rather than the popular Treekachu card itself.
Even so, collectors continue chasing nearly every possible connection to one of the "Pokémon TCG" hobby's latest grail cards.
