‘Marvel Rivals’ Begins Crack Down on Cheaters; Penalties Await Repeat Offenders

NetEase Games says no to cheating on ‘Marvel Rivals.’

NetEase Games is putting its foot down when it comes to cheating on "Marvel Rivals" as the company's latest long post revealed that they will now begin cracking down against players who try to con the system.

While "Marvel Rivals" has an anti-cheating system in place, many bad actors are still able to game the system and circumvent the safety measures NetEase has put in place.

'Marvel Rivals' Begins Crackdown on Cheaters

NetEase issued a large wave of bans for "Marvel Rivals," publicly listing hundreds of players who were found exploiting the game using cheats, assist programs, or by tampering with the client itself. All of these players have been permanently banned from the game following an investigation into their cheating activity.

According to a new post by NetEase on X, "Marvel Rivals'" competitive integrity has been a growing concern in the community this season as its anti-cheat system has been alleged to be fairly easy to bypass, leading to potential hacking throughout the game.

Per a report by GameRant, Twitch streamer Jay3OW recently claimed that the anti-cheat feature could apparently be deleted without many consequences. As of press time, those claims have not been verified.

NetEase addressed the rumors directly in its official blog post, and they stated that the claims about fraudulent players deleting the game's anti-cheat are completely false, adding that their in-house anti-cheat cannot be disabled independently of the game itself.

Serious Penalties Await Repeat Offenders

NetEase is not stopping at a single wave of bans as the studio stated that repeat offenders could be subject to account bans, IP bans, or even device bans moving forward. The escalating penalty system makes it clear that getting caught a second time will carry far more serious consequences than the first.

Most of the players recently banned never even reached Bronze or Silver, the two lowest rankings in "Marvel Rivals" PvP. Only a handful of the banned players were among the ranks of One Above All or Grandmaster.

The player community has responded positively to NetEase's newfound stance, but some ask for more or graver punishments for cheaters. Fans also call for penalties on players who are overtly toxic over text or voice chat.

Gamers have also remained frustrated with smurfs and throwers who have not received the same treatment as cheaters despite making "Marvel Rivals" a worse experience overall.

Season 8 of "Marvel Rivals" still has more content ahead, including a brand-new map called Alchemax Headquarters and new skins for Black Cat, Wolverine, Iron Man, and Mantis. All these come ahead of the Season 8.5 roadmap launching later this summer.
