Time for some introspection while on the road - The Walking Dead style - in this week's episode of the post-apocalyptic zombie hit on AMC.

Rick and the group, en route to DC, are faced with the challenges of thirst, hunger, physical weakness, doubt, ambivalence... not to mention the ever-looming threat of Walkers, both the living and dead kind, coming at them at any moment.

Warning, spoilers below for those who have not yet watched The Walking Dead episode 10, season 5: Them. You have been warned.

As the group crawls towards Washington DC, they seem more broken than ever as they scavenge for food. Daryl even digs up a worm for a snack while Maggie has a close call with a Walker which she puts out of its misery before she returns to her miserable task of finding food for the group while still mourning the death of her sister.

"How much longer we got?" Maggie asks, a painful reminder that she is not referring to the physical distance to Washington.

Although desperate and desolate with a long road still a head of them, they can't help but be suspicious of a stack of water bottles, like miracle, set before them with a note scribbled: From a friend.

Luckily, their dilemma is washed away, literally, by a downpour which quenches their thirst. As they take shelter in a nearby barn, all seemingly ready to give up and wondering what it is they are struggling so hard to survive for anymore, Rick delivers one of the most poignant speeches of the season, telling them they have no choice but to keep moving forward.

"We do what we need to do and then we live. We tell ourselves we are the walking dead," he says.

Another lucky deliverance was a pack of hungry dogs, which a very angry Sasha, puts away immediately, and Rick cooks into a feast over a fire for them to re-energize and re-group on.

In the last few moments before the credits rolled, a newcomer was introduced to the group. Aaron (to be played by new series regular, Ross Marquand) approached the group claiming to be a friend. But what exactly his friendship will mean to them and their journey ahead will be revealed next week on AMC.
