Justice was served for the families of slain Iraq war veteran Chris Kyle and Chad Littlefield. On Tuesday night, it took a jury only three hours to deliver their verdict on the capital murder charges against Eddie Ray Routh - Guilty.

Two years after he shot and killed his friends at a gun range in Texas, Routh now faces a lifetime sentence in prison without parole.

The jurors were unanimous in their decision to pass the Guilty verdict on Routh, who attempted to defend himself with an insanity plea. But the prosecution, families of the victims, as well as expert psychologists, did not buy into his psychosis tale, saying that although he suffered from paranoia, he was clearly calculating in his plan and knew what he was doing when he murdered Kyle and Littlefield.

As was previously reported, one expert witness who interviewed Routh several times, even testified during the trial that it was his opinion that Routh's story of soul-devouring pigs and cannibals was inspired by a storyline from the 90's sit-com, Seinfeld.

"The deep well of excuse-making for this defendant has to come to an end. In cold blood, he gunned these two men down," said District Attorney Alan Nash in his closing arguments.

For the families of Kyle and Littlefield, the verdict was bittersweet. The nine-day trial was a culmination of two years of waiting for Justice to prevail over the shootings of the veterans who took Routh to the gun range as a form of therapy that they often did for people suffering from PTSD.

"We've waited two years for God to get justice for us on behalf of our son and, as always, God has proved to be faithful. We're so thrilled that we have the verdict that we have tonight," said Littlefield's mother, Judy Littlefield, through emotional tears alongside other members of the family, to reporters outside the Erath County Courthouse after the verdict was passed.

According to reports, because the death penalty was not sought-after by the prosecution, Judge Jason Cashon, who presided over the trial, automatically imposed the sentence of life without the possibility of parole for Routh.
