Earlier this year, there had been many reports about the upcoming "Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag" remake that is rumored to be under development over at Ubisoft.
However, recently rumors have died down. Fans are now wondering what's going on.
What Is Happening with 'Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag' Remake?
ComicBook Gaming shared a new report which tackles the speculations on "Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag" remake's current developments, especially what is happening behind the scenes.
There are no new updates from trusted sources and rumor mongers about the game, and Ubisoft has yet to confirm this remake's development as of press time.
However, the publication revealed that "Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag" is still under development, and the French game development company is working on the upcoming title behind the scenes.
Alongside this, it is known that Ubisoft is working on new games under the codenames "Hexe," "Infinity," and "Invictus."
According to ComicBook Gaming, "Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag" is expected to be as large as its original version, particularly as it remains one of the biggest, top-reviewed, top-selling, and most successful titles under the franchise.
ComicBook Gaming speculates that Ubisoft does not want its 2025-released game to be overshadowed by it. This year, Ubisoft released the twice-delayed "Assassin's Creed Shadows," which is one of the most successful games it has had in modern times.
No New Rumors, Development Updates from Ubisoft
It is fairly understandable that many fans are already getting worried about the "Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag" remake as there have been no new rumors or news about its development. Add Ubisoft's silence on the matte, as the company has yet to confirm that it is indeed working on this remake.
Nevertheless, it is expected that Ubisoft will soon make an announcement, potentially in the upcoming year.
This remake has already been the subject of many leaks in the past months of 2025, including a teaser from the original game protagonist, Edward Kenway's actor Matt Ryan.
On the other hand, a European games rating system, PEGI, has previously shared the supposed title of this upcoming remake along with its rating, calling it the "Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag Resynced."
