When it comes to video games, it's been a while since fans have seen the Scarecrow. When it comes to Batman: Arkham Knight coverage, most of it has been dominated by the Knight himself, even though Rocksteady Studios has promised that the maniacal Master of Fear will take center stage in the upcoming game. For a long while, it's felt as if Scarecrow was merely the second fiddle to Batman's new rival.

That changes today.

DC Entertainment has just released the latest trailer for Batman: Arkham Knight, and if you're one of those fans that revels in Batman's rogues gallery, you're in for a treat:

For a long time, Batman: Arkham Knight coverage has been almost entirely devoted to showing off gameplay. It makes sense - Rocksteady wants to people to know what kind of game they'll be playing - but half of the reason people love the series in the first place is the story. In that regard, it's nice to see a return to more standard trailers, at least for now.

On top of that, it's easily the best look at the villains fans have yet to see. Two-Face, the Penguin, the Riddler, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy and Scarecrow himself all make an appearance, and they look fantastic. Two-Face looks particularly gruesome, and finally being able to see the Riddler's face up-close is a nice change from previous games. Again, if you're a Batman fan that loves the villains as much as the hero, you'll love the trailer.

Of course, Scarecrow's face is still relatively obscured: it's clear that he's no longer wearing the potato sack/goggles combo from Arkham Asylum, and it almost looks like his face has started to rot...a side effect of the fear toxin, perhaps?

There's a lot riding on Batman: Arkham Knight. As the last game in the franchise from Rocksteady Studios, it could be a long time before fans see another high-quality Batman game...let's just hope the final product is as good as its trailers.

Batman: Arkham Knight is set for release on June 2.
