Destiny's companion app got a major update at the end of February that allows for players to transfer items between their different characters on the go. It's a much faster and more efficient way to manage the inventory of your various characters, and it can be done anywhere whether you are on a desktop PC or on your smartphone.

However, for some players, the companion app is turning out to be much more trouble that its worth, with some reporting that their items are vanishing into thin air when transferred using the app. Others are encountering WEASEL errors that prevent the app from working, and the characters for some gamers playing Destiny on Xbox platforms don't appear on the companion app at all.

Bungie is aware of the issues and is already taking steps to remedy the problems. The WEASEL errors encountered by some players should be occurring far less often now, Bungie says, but the other two problems are still being addressed.

"...we have heard reports that players are losing items when transferring items using the Companion app," Bungie says in their weekly update. "While we investigate this issue, please be sure to check all Inventories amongst your characters, and to use caution when transferring items during mission countdown timers and load-ins for maps."

Bungie asks players who cannot see their Xbox characters in the app to report their in this thread on the forums, where one Bungie employee is asking players to answer questions about their experience. So far Bungie is recommending Xbox gamers who are encountering the problem to simply sign out of Bungie.net before signing in once again with their Microsoft account to see if that fixes the problem, after which it may take up to 15 minutes to see results.

While Bungie investigates the issues, players might want to steer clear of using the app to transfer gear. Nothing could be worse than losing your arsenal of exotic weaponry after hundreds of hours of playtime thanks to a glitch.
