U.S. network operator T-Mobile is bringing "Data Stash" to its prepaid customers.

By March 22, T-Mobile USA's new and existing Simple Choice prepaid plan subscribers will be able to take advantage of Data Stash. Previously, this perk was only available for the carrier's postpaid subscribers.

The prepaid plan users will also get a "Starter Stash" of up to 10GB, just like postpaid customers. Once the data bandwidth decreases, prepaid subscribers to T-Mobile can start rolling data that has not been consumed every month for a maximum of 12 months.

"I'm happy to announce that, starting Sunday March 22nd, Data Stash will start rolling out to Simple Choice prepaid customers. Every single one of our prepaid voice customers with a qualifying Simple Choice plan will start out with a Starter Stash with up to 10 GB of 4G LTE data. And when that's all used up, they'll start rolling forward their unused data for use up to a full year. Automatically ... and at no extra charge," revealed Andrew Sherrard, T-Mobile's Chief Marketing Officer

Data Stash is a policy whereby any amount of a subscriber's unused 4G data gets allotted to their data pool for the ensuing month. The good thing about Data Stash is that the rollover is valid for a year, so basically even if a user does not use up all their data in a few months, they can stash it for 12 months and use it up as they go along.

T-Mobile USA introduced the "Data Stash" policy in December 2014, and such was its popularity that rival AT&T followed suit, launching its own "Rollover Data" in January this year. However, unlike T-Mobile's Data Stash, the unused data for AT&T subscribers expires after a month of being accumulated.

Other competing network operators in the U.S., such as Verizon Wireless and Sprint, are yet to offer similar rollover benefits. Verizon's CFO Fran Shammo has even gone on record to say that the carrier is a "leader and not a follower" and, therefore, it may not jump onto the bandwagon at all.

With T-Mobile's Uncarrier announcement slated for March 18, the carrier could also have a few more surprises up its sleeve.
