Back in 2001, a group of friends decided to make a movie about the lives of Vermont Highway Patrolman. It was a movie about what happens when the worst kind of cops get bored, and - to put it bluntly - it was hysterical. It didn't set the world on fire with its box office take, but for a long time, Super Troopers was absolutely everywhere.

Sadly, that was over a decade ago: while rumors of a Super Troopers 2 have been floating around for years now, the movie never seemed to materialize. Fans would get wind of an updated script and hope for a proper update, but nothing ever came through....until now, that is.

That's right: thanks to the crowdfunding site Indiegogo, Super Troopers 2 is officially happening...if the project raises $2 million.

Let's be honest: the videos that accompany most Indiegogo campaigns aren't all that great. It's no one's fault, but most are rather haphazardly edited and typically feature someone who's never been in front of a camera before. With Super Troopers 2, it's like watching a strangely on-topic deleted scene.

After all these years, it's fantastic to see everyone back in character. Super Troopers was arguably the best movie Broken Lizard ever made, and aside from a small cameo in the Dukes of Hazzard movie (forgot about that one, didn't you?), the characters have been criminally underused.

With any luck, that'll change soon: $2 million isn't a small number by any means, but it's not unreasonable, either. Plus, with fans begging for a sequel all these years, there are plenty of people who'd be willing to help fund Super Troopers 2.

In terms of rewards, Super Troopers 2 is pretty standard. Digital copies of the movie start at $30, with more and more behind-the-scenes content added in as the donations get bigger. The perks start to get a bit more interesting at the $250 mark, where fans get to meet the Broken Lizard crew at Beerfest Chicago - as the price goes up, more events are added.

Of course, the only tier worth funding is $35,000: who wouldn't want to keep the patrol car used in the movie?

The project is currently set to run through April 24, and as of this writing, the project's already raised over $90,000. At this rate, Super Troopers 2 is in the bag.

If you'd like to donate to the project, you can head over to Broken Lizard's official Indiegogo campaign. Super Troopers 2, if successful, is set to begin filming this summer.
