Verizon announced that it will start accepting pre-orders for the HTC One M9 on April 1, Wednesday. The new HTC flagship smartphone will become available in Verizon stores the next Friday, April 10.

Verizon comes late to the party as other mobile carriers go ahead and start shipping orders this Friday, March 27. On any of Verizon's More Everything plans with two-year contract, the HTC One M9 will cost $199.99 and $24.99 every month for the next 24 months on Verizon's Edge plan.

The offer will also include coverage under HTC's newly introduced Uh-Oh program, which gives customers a free replacement within the first 12 months upon purchase if the phone gets a broken screen, is water-damaged, or if the customer decides to switch to other carriers. The latter is especially significant because it makes HTC the first device manufacturer to make it easy for customers to switch network providers. T-Mobile and Sprint have been wooing new customers by offering to pay for their early termination fees, with T-Mobile also offering to pay the balance a customer has on his Verizon Edge or AT&T Next plan.

Both colors, Gunmetal Gray and Two-tone Gold and Silver, will be available from Verizon. The carrier also says the HTC One M9 Verizon version will support Advanced Calling 1.0, or HD Voice and Video, which supposedly allows users to make "crystal clear" calls.

Meanwhile, buyers who cannot wait until April 10 to get their new smartphone can look to other channels. For those who prefer to pay the upfront cost of an unlocked smartphone, HTC starts accepting and shipping orders for the 32 GB HTC One M9 on Friday, March 27.

AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile also announced that they will start accepting and shipping orders on the same day. Off contract, one can get the phone from AT&T for $708.99 or $199 on a two-year agreement that locks the customer to the AT&T network for two years, unless he lets T-Mobile or Sprint pay the early termination fee. On the Next plan, customers can get the HTC One M9 for $29.55 a month for the next 24 months, making it slightly more expensive than Verizon's Edge plan.

Sprint is offering the new device on a lease of $20 a month for 24 months or $30 a month for 12 months, after which, buyers can choose to upgrade to a new phone and continue their lease. Sprint is also offering $50 off on a Harman Kardon One wireless Bluetooth speaker if bought with the HTC One M9.

Meanwhile, T-Mobile charges $649.92 for an HTC One M9 bought off contract or a monthly installment of $27.08 for the next 24 months.
