HTC seems to have been putting much of its attention on Europe lately with the latest news: the company intends to make a follow-up to the HTC One M9 with a refreshed version of the HTC One M8. The upcoming handset, purportedly named HTC One M8s, features the familiar curved metal design of its older sibling along with other trademark HTC features and some unique and upgraded specs.

The HTC One M8s has the same front-facing BoomSound speakers, HTC Sense 6.0, user experience and the premium all-metal body, which has been HTC's most iconic design feature so far. Other features that are maintained in the One M8s are the front camera of 5MP, 2GB of RAM, and the 5-inch 1080p display.

There is no explanation yet on the meaning behind the added letter "s" in the One M8s. It may stand for the word Snapdragon since the M8s is said to have an enhanced Snapdragon 615 of 64 bits from Qualcomm, which is the most prominent feature found in the handset. It could also stand for "stronger battery" since the One M8s is designed with a 2840 mAh battery, which is definitely an improvement from the One M8's 2600 mAh. Lastly, the added letter "s" could stand for "selfie" as the new One M8s is said to have a 13MP main camera, perfect for those who love taking great images using their handsets.

The upcoming handset also offers Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1 and NFC. It comes with Android Lollipop 5.0 right out of the box along with HTC Eye experience. Just like its predecessor, the One M8s will be available in Gunmetal Gray, Glacial Silver and Amber Gold.

Other notable features include 16GB of internal storage and support for microSD by up to 128GB.

At first glance, and probably at even longer glimpses, the One M8s appears to match the hardware features of its older sibling. That's because HTC has focused more on the device's software features and has decided to retain the One M8's physical attributes, which had been regarded as one of the company's greatest achievements in terms of designing a handset.

The HTC One M8s is scheduled to hit the shelves in early April. The device will be available in Europe with a price that is estimated to be $564. There is no word yet on the company's plan to bring the device to other markets.
