Arrow's next episode, entitled "Broken Arrow," airs on April 8, and it will see the rise of a villain who goes by the name Deathbolt. Not everyone knows who Deathbolt is, but if the episode lives up to expectations, his name should ring through the Internet for weeks.

Deathbolt will be played by Doug Jones from Hellboy, and we have the first set of promo images to show.

What we have here appears to be Deathbolt making his first entrance in the thickness of night. For some reason, he's wearing a sunglasses, but who cares? Crazy things tend to happen in comic book shows. Furthermore, we get to see Deathbolt handing Ray Palmer his own butt and leaving him in a rubble, beaten up and shamed.

We're guessing Ray Palmer in his ATOM suit thought that his puny electricity powers could be a means of defeating a man who is capable of dealing out electricity damage on his own with the help of a suit. We can't wait to see how the fight began, and the manner of which Palmer got his butt handed to him.

Who is Deathbolt?

Deathbolt's real name is Jake Simmons, and he is basically a human battery. He has the power to generate, project, channel and absorb electrical currents, which could be one of the reasons why he took down the ATOM without much of a fight, from what we can tell.

In the comics, Simmons became Deathbolt after he was struck by lightning. He fell into a meteor crater, and from there, he was taken by the Ultra-Humanite. Simmons was then used as a guinea pig until his body became a living battery.

We suspect his origins in Arrow will follow similar traits to all meta-humans. The particular accelerator exploded, and he was caught in the blast. Chances are, he was around electrical equipment at the time, which helped him in becoming the person he is today.

While we have no idea of how his origins will come about in Arrow, we do know that the character will make an appearance in episode 22 of The Flash. This means that he will likely make good on his escape from Oliver and Ray Palmer.
