Marvel's latest movie Avengers: Age of Ultron may be flying into theaters Friday, which is sure to satisfy your need to see superheroes on screen. However, if you're more of a purist who is more into the medium from where these characters came, i.e. comic books, then Saturday is the day for you.
Saturday, May 2 is Free Comic Book Day 2015, which should make your fanboy or fangirl heart a-flutter because the name says it all. On the first Saturday of May since 2002, participating comic book stores across North America — and even some around the world — have handed out comic books absolutely free. All you have to do is find a store near you that will be participating in Free Comic Book Day this year, which you can find on the event's official website, and you'll get your hands on a shiny, new issue full of the adventures of your favorite superheroes, TV characters or pocket monsters.
Comic book stores participating in Free Comic Book Day this year will be handing out 50 titles of the gold- and silver-level sponsorship. This year's comics feature stories ranging from Bob's Burgers to Dark Circle Comics to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and everything in between.
You can find more information about all of the titles being offered on Free Comic Book Day this year on the event's official website. There are even links to download previews of some of the issues so you can decide which one you really want to snag ahead of time, although some stores may allow you to take multiple free comic book titles home. One can only hope.
