A new report claims that Verizon will likely begin selling the HTC One 2014 on March 25, which is the same day as HTC's official launch event.

HTC has scheduled a press event for March 25, where the company is widely expected to officially announce its latest flagship smartphone. The smartphone has made its way on to the web more times than HTC would have liked. The device is codenamed HTC M8 but the jury is still out on what the smartphone's official name is. Some claim it will be called the All New HTC One, while others say it will be named HTC One 2014. No matter what HTC names the device, it's clear that this smartphone is more of an evolution of its predecessor than a completely redesigned smartphone.

The HTC One 2014 offers some solid upgrades when compared to the current HTC One. HTC has increased the display size from a 4.7-inch 1080p display to a 5-inch 1080p display. It has also given it a faster processor, better cameras, and the same and very popular anodized aluminum unibody seamless case that made the original a hit.

HTC will reveal the HTC One 2014 on March 25 and there's new report that claims Verizon will begin selling the smartphone on that date. If true, this would give HTC a small head start on launching its flagship smartphone before Samsung releases the Galaxy S5 on April 11.

It appears that there could be some truth to this report, thanks to teaser placeholders showing up at Verizon retail stores, which show what appears to be the HTC One with a message to "Get ready to hit refresh, 3.25 at 1PM ET." The site notes that HTC will kick off its event at 11 AM ET and believes that the 1PM time listed in the image will give HTC more than enough time to announce the HTC One 2014 at its event. Verizon is expected to open up sales through its online store at 1PM and possibly in some of its retail stores.

As always, we'll have to wait to get the official word from HTC and Verizon, so take this report with a grain of salt.
