Assassin's Creed creator Patrice Désilets may no longer work at Ubisoft, but that isn't stopping him from thinking big. How big? Think all of human history big.

His new game is called Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey, and is coming from Désilets' new studio Panache Digital Games. The game's official site gives us some details on what to expect. Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey will be an episodic action-adventure survival game played from the third person. Players will relive various key moments throughout human history.

A brief teaser trailer for the game was shown during the Reboot Develop 2015 conference in Croatia that ran through some of mankind's greatest achievements, like harnessing fire, creating tools, developing the theory of evolution and landing on the moon.

The game's tagline proclaims "our civilisation is one idea away from extinction or evolution." Eurogamer was on hand to record the trailer for your viewing pleasure.

That's all we know so far. No pricing, release date or platforms for the game were given, though the developer promises more details on the game will be coming this year. The idea of an episodic game series serving as a kind of mankind's "Greatest Hits" sounds like it could be both educational and entertaining, much like Assassin's Creed. While the popular series Désilets helped create is far from historically accurate and often dives into the realm of science-fiction, the Assassin's Creed games still do a remarkable job of giving players an idea of what life might have been like hundreds of years ago in cities around the globe.

Let's hope Acestors: The Humankind Odyssey is similarly ambitious. From these small number of details, it certainly sounds like it.
