Samsung is off to a great start with sales of its latest flagship Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. To keep up with demand for the S6 Edge, the company has opened a third production facility.

When Samsung took the wraps off of the Galaxy Note 4 last September, the company also introduced a second model with a curved flexible display called the Galaxy Note Edge. The Note Edge shares the same specs as the Note 4, including a quad-HD display that extends around the right side, which can be used for app shortcuts, notifications and more.

The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge has been a hit with consumers and its smaller sibling, the Galaxy S6 Edge is proving to be even more popular than Samsung expected. The smartphone's unique dual-edged display design has already earned Samsung an award, the device was named "Best New Handset" at Mobile World Congress in March, and in order to meet consumer demand, Samsung has opened a third production facility to build the Galaxy S6 Edge's display.

A new report from Bloomberg claims that Samsung has added a new production line, known as A3, which will allow Samsung to more than double the monthly output of Galaxy S6 Edge displays from two million per month to five million screens per month.

The report goes on to say that Samsung now has three plants dedicated to building OLED displays for the Galaxy S6 Edge, and the latest facility is located near one of the company's original facilities used to make the curved displays.

Samsung expects the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge to be its most successful smartphones to date and expects to sell over 70 million of the new handsets. This number should be easily attainable, as Samsung reported record pre-orders of over 20 million devices ahead of both smartphones' April 10 launch.
