Sprint has started the rollout of the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to LG G2 smartphones under its network.

Once the installation of the Android 5.0 Lollipop on a Sprint LG G2 is completed, the version number of the smartphone will be changed to ZVG.

Sprint is the last of the four major carriers in the United States to push out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to the LG G2 smartphone. AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile have all previously released the update to LG G2 smartphones under their respective networks.

The update to Android 5.0 Lollipop will introduce several new features and improvements to the LG G2, including a new user interface for multitasking, enhancements to the notifications system and the Material Design style developed by Google.

In addition to the usual changes that can be seen when upgrading to Android 5.0 Lollipop, the change log notes provided by Sprint reveals that the update will also affect the FM Radio software of the LG G2. Upgrading the smartphone to Android 5.0 Lollipop should also improve the FM Radio experience for the device.

As with all over-the-air updates, the rollout of Android 5.0 Lollipop will not be instantaneous to all Sprint LG G2 users. The update will reach the devices in various times, with users having to wait as long as several days before their smartphones are upgraded to Google's latest version of its mobile operating system.

Users can check if their Sprint LG G2 smartphones are ready to install the Android 5.0 Lollipop update by heading to the device's Settings and then accessing the About Phone page. If the Android 5.0 Lollipop update is ready, it will be displayed upon selecting the Software update option.

As with all other updates, users are recommended to have their smartphones connected to a stable Wi-Fi connection and to have the device all charged up before initiating the upgrade.

The LG G2 Sprint, with model number LS980, is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor, clocking in at 2.26 GHz. The smartphone features a vivid 5.2-inch full HD IPS display and a long-lasting 3,000mAh battery. The device initially shipped with the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system.
