Today, Sony announced its May lineup for free PlayStation Plus games, this time earlier than anticipated.

Those of you looking for AAA titles, though, are in for a disappointment: these games are all developed by independent studios.

For the PS4, May's free games include Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition and Ether One. Other titles, those available for PS4, PS3 and PS Vita are The Unfinished Swan, Race The Sun and Hohokum. Finally, for the PS Vita, PlayStation Plus members get Murasaki Baby.

These games arrive in the PlayStation Store on May 5 as free to all PlayStation Plus members (well, free being that you've paid for the subscription service).

Here's a full rundown of the games.

Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition (PS4)

This is a 2D platform game that also includes brawling based on old Mexican folk tales. The artwork is bright and vibrant (like old Mexican art) as you explore a big world and learn the fighting system. The game also features co-op play.

Ether One (PS4)

This "haunting" first-person puzzle game revolves around helping the mentally ill restore their minds. The puzzles are challenging and "not everything is as it seems."

The Unfinished Swan (PS4, PS3 and PS Vita)

This critically-acclaimed game has beautiful art and a "breath-taking" story. It's a game about exploring the unknown and players take on the role of a young boy who chases a swan through a surreal world.

Race The Sun (PS4, PS3 and PS Vita)

In case you hadn't guessed from this game's title, it's a racing game, but with a twist: you have to outrun the setting sun.

Hohokum (PS4, PS3 and PS Vita)

Sony calls this a "supremely relaxing game that's bursting at the seams with personality." In Hohokum, you explore a crazy world and make new friends, all to the tunes of an eclectic soundtrack.

Murasaki Baby (PS Vita)

This puzzle game is strange, by its very definition. Players take the controls for Baby, who has to find his way home through a terrifying world.
